INCONTRI MIRACOLOSI: PONTORMO DAL DISEGNO ALLA PITTURA

The exhibition Miraculous encounters: Pontormo from drawing to painting, curated by Bruce Edelstein and Davide Gasparotto, from 8 May to 29 July at the Galleria Palatina, Sala delle Nicchie, is the result of a collaboration between the Uffizi Galleries, the J. Paul Getty Museum and the Morgan Library and Museum. On display are a few of Pontormo’s finest works, including one of his greatest masterpieces, the recently restored Visitation, exceptionally compared with the famous Halberdier from the Getty Museum, an absolute masterpiece of 16th-century portraiture and a fundamental model for the evolution of later Florentine portraits.
