KIKI SMITH. WHAT I SAW ON THE ROAD

30,00

Exhibition catalogue, Florence, Palazzo Pitti, Andito degli Angiolini – 15 February 2019 – 2 June 2019. Kiki Smith, German-born, lives and works in New York. A militant feminist, her art deals with issues related to gender and sexuality, physicality and social denunciation. She uses different techniques, from book illustration to screen printing, sculpture and painting, glass and tapestry. Her close connection to the present does not exclude the presence in her works of distant echoes, such as references to medieval bestiaries and miniatures, martyrologies and fairy tales. Her works show a deep love for the manual aspect of creativity, in an almost “domestic” dimension.
