\nThe original is located in the Sagrestia Nuova, inside the Museo delle Cappelle Medicee.<\/p>\n
Dawn is one of the statues that form part of the funerary complex of the New Sacristy, inside the Medici Chapels, designed and produced by Michelangelo between 1520 and 1533. Along with Dusk, its counterpart, it rests upon the tomb of Lorenzo Duke of Urbino. Aurora is depicted as a woman about to awaken, resting on one elbow, the other arm bent to remove the veil from her face. Together with the other three statues in the New Sacristy \u2013 Day, Night and Dusk \u2013 it represents one of Michelangelo\u2019s Allegories of Time.
