AWARDS AND ADVENTUROUS FINDINGS BETWEEN RIPPED PAGES AND HIDDEN WONDERS
Ancient illuminated manuscripts, cut-out pages and miniatures – coming from the numerous Italian religious institutions – stolen and later recovered, celebrate the work done over the years by the Carabinieri dell’Arte, drawing attention to the extreme fragility of our historical and artistic heritage and the need for protection and proper conservation.
The exhibition and its catalogue present a series of exemplary “case studies”, which document the different methods to reconstruct the history of these objects, often tampered with to facilitate illegal trade: thanks to even minimal clues, using interdisciplinary skills, it is possible to reconnect these dispersed objects to their physical and geographical context.
