EJZENSTEJN. LA RIVOLUZIONE DELLE IMMAGINI

14,15

Exhibition catalogue: Florence, Uffizi Gallery, 7 November 2017 – 7 January 2018. Eisenstein was above all a film director, but he was also a draughtsman, photographer, teacher and theorist of the use of images and of the relationship between cinema and the visual arts. He produced an enormous quantity of drawings and sketches to underpin his work as a director, including theatrical work. The Uffizi houses a selection of around seventy of them. These works reflect his experiences of travelling in Mexico and Italy, and his relationship with Medieval and Renaissance art in particular. The exhibition catalogue represents a scientific reflection on this fundamental aspect of his creativity, thus providing an original key to exploring a pivotal period in the history of the 20th century.
