D’ODIO E D’AMORE. GIORGIO VASARI E ARTISTI A BOLOGNA

34,00

A complex relationship had developed between Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574) – architect, painter and early art historian, a Tuscan from Arezzo – and the Bologna artists of his time, which began with the former being extremely critical of the latter but then, over the course of about three decades, shifted to an avowed admiration on the part of Vasari for the next generation of Bolognese, including Prospero Fontana. An exhibition at the Uffizi in October 2018 traced this relationship through paintings and drawings, and brought to life a seminal moment of the Italian Renaissance. Exhibition catalogue: Florence, Uffizi Gallery, 9 October – 30 November 2018.
