COSIMO DE’ MEDICI
€22,00
Reproduction of the bust of Cosimo de’ Medici.
Craft artefact produced in Tuscany in white resin and marble powder, with wooden base.
Born in Florence in 1389, Cosimo is the forefather of the Medici dynasty and considered the Pater Patriae of the city. A powerful and wealthy banker, he stood out as a skilful politician, managing to obtain control of the Republic of Florence despite not holding any official position in government. Much like his grandson Lorenzo, he loved art and was engaged in many activities of artistic patronage, supporting artists such as Donatello, Filippo Lippi and Lorenzo Ghiberti. He died in Florence in 1464.
