LA PRIMA STATUA PER BOBOLI. IL VILLANO RESTAURATO

23,00

Purchased in 1550 by Cosimo’s consort, Eleonora di Toledo, Palazzo Pitti became over time the new residence of the Grand Dukes, immediately equipped with a large garden, soon set as a model to imitate for all the European rulers.
Probably the first sculpture made for Boboli was the Villano con la Botticella, sculpted in 1557 by Giovanni di Paolo Fancelli after a design by Baccio Bandinelli, master and founder of a fortunate tradition of statues dedicated to popular subjects that still animate the outdoor paths of the garden.
The recently completed restoration is a homage to the ducal couple and offers an opportunity to visit these places related to Cosimo I.
